Four tests to run on any SEO expert in Delhi, including me
Delhi has more SEO agencies and freelancers than almost any city in the world, and most of them sound identical. Before you compare prices, run these four quick tests. They take five minutes and will filter out most of the people you should not hire.
1. Do they rank for their own work?
Search the keyword they sell, logged out of Google, in an incognito window. Someone who cannot rank their own service is asking you to trust a skill they have not shown. I rank for my own core keywords in Chandigarh and I am building the same visibility for Delhi searches openly, on this page.
2. Is there a real Google profile?
A local SEO expert without a verified Business Profile and genuine reviews is skipping the very thing they want to sell you. Here is mine on Google Maps. Read the reviews, check the photos and see how long it has been active.
3. Will they show live dashboards?
Ask for a screen share of Search Console or the Business Profile performance tab, not a designed PDF. Live data is much harder to fake. The screenshots in the results section of this page come straight from those dashboards, and I am happy to open them on a call.
4. Do the details match?
Compare price, address and experience across their homepage, service pages and profiles. If the numbers change from page to page, so will the promises. Mine are the same everywhere: 15+ years, freelance since 2018, ₹5,000 and ₹15,000 monthly plans, no lock-in.
What local SEO in Delhi looks like in practice
Delhi is not one market. It is at least six. A clinic in Rajouri Garden, a CA in Laxmi Nagar and a boutique in Hauz Khas all compete in different search environments, with different competitors and different ways their customers type. That is why the first thing I do for any Delhi business is map out where its customers actually are and how they describe the area.
For a dental clinic in Janakpuri, for example, the profitable searches are rarely “dentist in Delhi”. They are “dentist in Janakpuri”, “root canal near Janakpuri metro”, “dental clinic C block Janakpuri” and plain “dentist near me” from phones within two or three kilometres. The plan follows from that: a perfectly configured Google Business Profile, reviews that naturally mention Janakpuri and the treatments, one strong page per treatment on the website, and a few location pages for nearby areas such as Vikaspuri and Uttam Nagar where the clinic genuinely gets patients.
For a South Delhi law firm the picture is different. Clients search less by “near me” and more by practice area and reputation: “divorce lawyer South Delhi”, “property lawyer Saket court”. Here the website, the author bios and AI visibility matter more than map pins, because people research before they call.
Google Business Profile problems I see most in Delhi
- Virtual office addresses. Many Delhi businesses list a coworking desk as their address. Google treats this as a guideline violation and suspensions are common. If you serve customers at their location, a service area business with a hidden address is the safer route.
- Duplicate listings. Old listings created by a previous agency, a Justdial import or an employee often compete with the real profile and split reviews.
- Keyword-stuffed names. “Best Skin Clinic Delhi Dr Sharma Laser Hair Removal” might rank for a while, but it is a common suspension trigger and competitors report it.
- Wrong primary category. I regularly find clinics listed as “Medical clinic” when “Dermatologist” or “Dental clinic” would match far more searches.
- Phone numbers that do not match. A call-tracking number on Google, a landline on the website and a mobile on Justdial confuses Google and customers alike.
If your listing is not appearing at all, start with my checklist on why a business does not show on Google Maps. If it is suspended, read how to fix a suspended Google Business Profile before you file any appeal.
Delhi SEO for AI search and voice
When someone asks ChatGPT for “a good orthopaedic doctor in Dwarka”, the answer is built from reviews, directory listings, news mentions and websites that answer questions clearly. Delhi businesses that have consistent details everywhere, plenty of specific reviews and answer-style content are the ones that get named. I build that as part of the main plan rather than selling it separately, and I explain the approach in my AEO and GEO guide.
A realistic timeline for Delhi businesses
In the first month we fix the profile, the obvious website problems and any duplicate listings. Most clients see more profile views and direction requests within four to eight weeks. Competitive website rankings in Delhi usually take three to six months, and very competitive categories such as hair transplant, IVF or criminal law can take longer. I will tell you at the audit stage which keywords are realistic and which are not, even if that means a smaller plan.
